VOYCE stands for Views of Young Carers Explained and is one of only 30 projects nationally to have been funded by the Big Lottery Youth in Focus Programme. The project is in Sheffield and will run over four and a half years from November 2011 to April 2016.
VOYCE is the idea of young carers who came together to make a difference to their lives and brings together young carers, voluntary and statutory partners to enable the voice of young carers to be heard.
Young Carers have been at the heart of VOYCE from the start and will continue to steer its development and delivery. The project is based on the priorities and areas of work identified by the group and they will continue to oversee the project throughout its lifetime.
VOYCE is led by The Children and Young People’s Empowerment Project, (Chilypep) who, in partnership with The Sheffield Young Carers Project and Interchange Sheffield CIC, will be the main delivery partners. A range of statutory and voluntary sector partners will be working together closely to deliver the project as part of Sheffield’s Carers and Young Carers Strategy.
Young Carers are hidden gems within our city. VOYCE gives them the opportunity to have their voices heard, their issues understood and a chance to improve their lives
